Reporting policy

How to report something on Kerb Side, and exactly what happens after you do.

Last updated: 8 August 2026

How to report

Open the listing and tap “Report this listing” at the bottom of the page. Choose a reason, add anything useful, and send. It takes a few seconds.

What you can report

  • Illegal item
  • Dangerous item
  • Weapon
  • Drugs
  • Unsafe material
  • Stolen goods
  • Inappropriate content
  • Someone is trying to sell this
  • Scam or fraud
  • Wrong category
  • Something else

What happens next

  • Reports for weapons, drugs, illegal or dangerous items, unsafe materials and stolen goods take the listing down immediately, before a human has looked at it.
  • Other reasons flag the listing for review. Three separate reports on one listing also take it down automatically.
  • A moderator reviews every report and either removes the listing or restores it.
  • The poster is told their listing was reported, and is told the outcome — but never who reported it.
  • Behaviour that appears unlawful is referred to New Zealand Police.

Reports are confidential

Your identity is never revealed to the person you reported. You can report each listing once — repeat reports on the same listing do not speed anything up.

Automatic moderation

Alongside member reports, every listing is scanned when it is posted. Prohibited items, prices, payment details and attempts to move a conversation off-platform are detected automatically. Clear breaches are refused outright; borderline cases are published but queued for a moderator.

If we got it wrong

If your listing was removed and you think that was a mistake, reply to the notification or contact kerb.side.nz@gmail.com. A different moderator will look at it.

Something urgent

If you are in immediate danger, call 111. Kerb Side's reporting queue is not monitored around the clock and is not a substitute for emergency services.
